Product sheets and comparisons

Product sheets: data first, then a fair comparison.

We will publish product comparisons once we have data that are sufficiently comparable and properly documented. Until then, we show how the information and its sources will be presented.

01Product sheet template

Every value with its source

The blank sheet below is a template — it does not describe any product. The “Source” column next to each parameter will show whether a figure comes from the producer’s declaration, an independent analysis or our own test.

Identification

Producer
—Name of the company and production plant
Country
—Country of production (not the distributor’s country)
Product name
—Trade name printed on the bag
Certificate type
—Scheme and class, e.g. ENplus A1
ENplus ID / number
—Checked in the register, with the date of the check
Wood species
—As declared by the producer

Packaging, price and availability

Bag
—Bag weight, kg
Bags per pallet
—Number of bags on a pallet
Net pallet weight
—kg — the basis for the per-tonne price
Pallets per truck
—Number of pallets in a full load
Net truckload weight
—Calculated: pallet weight × number of pallets
Pallet price
—With the date, terms and VAT status
Price per tonne
—Calculated automatically: pallet price ÷ net pallet weight
Transport
—Included or charged separately; delivery point
Availability
—Available / limited / to order / unavailable
Document / test date
—Date of the report, sheet or test
Value for money
—Cost per kWh of energy in the fuel + notes on day-to-day use
Sheet status
—Data sources stated for every parameter

Every result will carry a label: producer’s declaration / certificate / independent analysis / PeletLab test / data requiring verification. The “A1 requirement” column shows the class limit (ENplus), not the product’s result.

02Producer sheet template

Producer sheet — with a source for every field, too

A template without data. This is how a sheet for a producer or plant whose data qualify for publication might look — with the source of every piece of information clearly marked.

Company and production plant—source: —Registration documents, plant address, a visit or a call
Country of production—source: —Plant address, shipping documents

03Declaration versus analysis

Two different categories of information

Producer’s declaration, certificate, independent analysis or PeletLab test — these never end up in the same column without a label.

  • Source: producer’s declaration

A value stated by the producer: product sheet, quotation or website. We publish it, but we do not treat it as a measurement.

  • Source: certificate

A value that follows from a certificate, e.g. the ENplus A1 class. It confirms that the result should fall within the class limit — not what the actual result for a given batch is.

  • Source: independent analysis

A report from an external laboratory with a report number, date, test method and sample description — including when the sample was supplied by the producer (in which case we say so).

  • Source: PeletLab test

A practical test carried out by PeletLab, or a laboratory analysis commissioned by PeletLab from an external laboratory. The product sheet always states which of the two applies.

  • Data require verification

Information whose source we have not confirmed. We do not treat it as fact, and we do not turn a declaration into a “verified result” without good reason.

We do not have our own laboratory and we are not a certification body. Laboratory results come from reports by external laboratories, which we name on every sheet.
